The Leader as Coach

In the 21st century, it's impossible for managers to always have all the right answers. To make up for this, many companies are distancing themselves from traditional command-and-control workplaces. Instead, they are moving toward a model in which managers support and guide employees rather than just giving instructions. This new coaching role for managers means employees are able to adapt to change in ways that result in fresh energy, innovation and commitment.
