Within the Enbridge Damage Prevention department, the team is always trying to come up with creative solutions to reduce gas line damages. One consistent trend we observe is a higher rate of damage from Sewer and Water work. Jason Syragakis came up with a creative challenge for a Toronto-based sewer and water contractor, CG Construction Services Ltd, to complete one full year of ground disturbance with no gas line damages. This was a lofty target given the volume and scope of the projects CG Construction Services was undertaking in 2024.

In coordination with our Damage Prevention Inspectors conducting regular proactive site meets, contractor safe excavation presentations, and on-site support requests, CG Construction Services- Frank Gazze and his team were successful in having zero gas line damages in 2024. In recognition of this achievement, a BBQ breakfast was held at CG Construction Services head office with the Enbridge Community Events Team and Enbridge Damage Prevention Toronto team, to showcase CG Construction's exemplary work, dedication to damage prevention and attention to safety. Congratulations to the CG Construction team for a successful 2024. Special thanks to the Enbridge Damage Prevention Toronto team: Jason Syragakis, Matthew Butler, Matthew Prentice for making this a reality!
