APCO’s Agency Training Program Accreditation (ATPA) gives public safety communications agencies a formal way to certify that their training meets APCO American National Standards (ANS). Agency curricula, training materials and other relevant documentation are thoroughly reviewed for compliance. Once approved, accredited agencies hold this distinction for three years, demonstrating their commitment to high-quality, standardized emergency communications training. APCO’s Surviving Stress online course tackles one of the biggest challenges in emergency communications: on-the-job stress. It covers the causes, signs and symptoms of stress while providing strategies for both immediate intervention and long-term management. Students will gain practical tools to recognize and reduce stress in themselves and their colleagues, with guidance on cumulative stress, critical incidents and post-traumatic stress disorder.
