Arkhbum Tissue Group (a part of Pulp Mill Holding) became a partner of WWF event “Earth Hour 2019”.

“For our holding it is very important to participate in the largest ecological event at the planet,” said Vladimir Krupchak, member of BoD of Arkhangelsk PPM JSC. “One of the priorities of Pulp Mill Holding, our shareholder, is to reduce the technological environmental impact. Every year the holding invests in large projects for environment protection. Last year Arkhangelsk PPM became a partner of event “Earth Hour” for the first time and this year the new assets of PMH in Kaluga region – ATG plant for production of sanitary tissue products – participates in this event in sign of careful and responsible relation to planet resources with the obligative light switching off on March 30 at the plant.

Arkhbum Tissue Group is the largest investment project of Pulp Mill Holding in Russia. The investments amount to 8.5 billion RUB.

It produces sanitary tissue products under its own brand Soffione whose furnish is 100% percent FSC- certified pulp produced by Arkhangelsk PPM.

The newest equipment of leading world manufacturers from Italy and Austria is installed and is being installed at Arkhbum Tissue Group plant. Use of this high-tech equipment, innovative technologies and modern infrastructure ensures the efficiency and economy of energy resources consumed by the enterprise.

The production processes include the return of unused paper fiber to the production process and the reuse of treated water.

Earth Hour is an international symbolic event, when WWF calls to switch off the lights and household appliances for one hour as a sign of concern for the planet’s future.

“Of course, the state is responsible for environment condition,” says Yevgeny Schwarz, director of environmental protection policy for WWF Russia, “but when responsibility constantly shifted by citizens and business to the state this is the main cause of aggravation and lack of environmental problems solution. No action aimed to protect and preserve nature will be successful without the environmental awareness of the citizens, without the support of the business. Whether to help preserve rare species of animals, to use water, heat and electricity carefully, to take part in the preservation of old-growth forests and protected areas - everyone decides for himself, but it is important to remember that it will depend on each of our decisions whether we will breathe fresh air, drink clean water, enjoy the natural diversity and preserve these benefits for our descendants.”
