Pulsar, Italy, recently inaugurated its new Pulsar America operations at 975 Parkview Rd., Suite 15, in Green Bay, Wis. The company conducted a five-day open house, September 21-25, which Tissue360o Newsletter attended, introducing to the North American market several of its major innovations, including:
  • QUATIS, the quality inspection machine for tissue wrapped and un-wrapped products
  • SATURNO,  a new concept to convey products
  • REDS PLATINUM, a data collection platform also capable of OEE calculation, specifically customized for the tissue industry
  • TISSUE PLS DYNAMIC, software able to create virtual layouts of tissue converting lines, simulating their functioning in typical real situations.
Within the new Green Bay premises, Pulsar America has created specific spaces dedicated to each product it is introducing, combining a display of the real machine operations with a detailed technical description of the process. During mornings at the open house, the company’s staff provided visitors specific training sessions and also organized dedicated webinars and workshops for visitors.

Quatis for packaging of tissue rolls (toilet paper and kitchen towels) and folded products (handkerchiefs, napkins, wipes) is a unique machine that allows customers to check and measure in real time, directly on the conveying system, possible non-compliance of products. It can be equipped with a discard unit for non-compliant products. In addition to verifying compliance of the tissue products, Quatis stores series of statistical data on the cause of non-compliance, allowing analysis and checking of the production process.

Saturno, a new concept designed for conveying systems of the future, pays specific attention to modularity of construction, easy maintenance, high performance, easy access, extended lifetime, and long conveyors with a single motorization. It features power distribution along any point of the line, single line speed and direction control, and endless conveyors. Modular construction allows high flexibility in conveyor system layout and fast assembly.

Designed especially for the tissue industry, the REDS System Platinum allows for the calculation of Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) for the whole line and for every machine in it, including full traceability of all associated information. Being able to effectively measure operating efficiencies of tissue converting lines allows performance to be dramatically improved and return on investment to be maximized, as well as product quality to be maintained at the highest level.

PLS Dynamic is a new simulation service in 3D that can predict the functional behavior of a new line before it is physically constructed, allowing the reduction of risks and costs. It can be used to optimize existing plants and evaluate the effects of changes on the line, without having to operate directly on the machines. The system provides realistic representatrion of the converting line and real-time simulation of the product, process, sensors along the line, electric drives, processing machines, conveyors, diverters, and reds. It also provides events analysis and checks on their effects on production.
