Celulosa Argentina Brings New Voith Tissue Machine OnLine

Celulosa Argentina reportedly has started up its new, EUR 18 million ($25 million) Voith (Germany) tissue machine at the company’s Capitán Bermúdez mill in Santa Fe province, about 300 km northwest of Buenos Aires. The new VTM 1 production line, which has a wire width of 2,760 mm and runs at 1,800 m/min, produces around 30,000 metric tpy of 15–21 gsm basis weight toilet tissue and kitchen roll from virgin fiber.

Voith’s supply of the tissue machine included a MasterJet T 1-layer headbox, a Voith steel yankee cylinder with high performance hood, NipcoFlex T shoe press, and a MasterReel. In addition, Voith’s complete Process Line Package (PLP) included the OnQ quality control system equipped with non-radioactive sensors for the measurement of moisture content and fiber weight, the OnC process control system, as well as the entire stock preparation system, engineering, and additional services.
 
Celulosa Argentina produces 142,000 metric tpy of coated woodfree (CWF) paper, 45,000 metric tpy of uncoated woodfree (UWF) paper, and 20,000 metric tpy of kraft papers, as well as 90,000 metric tpy of bleached eucalyptus kraft (BEK) pulp. The company has two mills in Argentina (Capitán Bermúdez and Zárate) and one mill in Uruguay (Fanapel).
