Mercury Paper, Strasburg, Va., USA, will invest $25 million to expand its tissue converting operations, creating 96 additional jobs by early 2015. Speaking at the announcement recently in Strasburg, Va., Governor Terry McAuliffe said that "it’s exciting to see the life and employees and the potential in this (Mercury Paper) building. I am excited to see what happens with the company and its combination of employees and growth is truly exciting. The team at Mercury Paper is making a great product at a great price. I’m sure, with this investment, Oasis Brands’ FIORA® will continue to be the fastest growing brand and a leader."
Founded in 2009, Mercury Paper produces household paper products sold at large retailers across the U.S. Key among those products are FIORA toilet paper and paper towels manufactured for Oasis Brands, headquartered in Winchester, Va., employing another 49 associates, and Mercury Paper’s primary customer. Together, these Virginia companies have developed more than a dozen store-brand manufacturing contracts, including agreements with two of America’s fastest growing top 20 retailers.
"The Commonwealth of Virginia has a strong workforce to support our tissue converting and distribution operations," said Nathan Hanson, Oasis Brands CEO. "Shenandoah County gives us access to a growing, skilled workforce and a well-developed transportation system to service major markets and key customers’ main distribution centers. With the pro-business environment and support that exists in Virginia, this community continues to aid in the success of Mercury Paper and Oasis Brands."
Mercury Paper is a privately held producer of private label tissue and towels for some of the country’s largest retailers. The company also makes products for the away-from-home sector.
