Metsä Group, a Finnish forest industry group that operates in international markets, has been awarded as Finland’s most startup-friendly company in 2022, receiving the award for the second year running.
 
International technology group ANDRITZ has received an order from Klingele Paper & Packaging Group in Nova Campina, Brazil, to supply automated threading systems for paper machines PM1 and PM3 producing various paper packaging grades. The systems will be installed in 2023.
 
Valmet will deliver bleached chemi-thermo mechanical pulp (BCTMP), evaporation and non-condensable gas (NCG) technology as well as an extensive automation solutions package for Stora Enso’s Oulu mill in Finland.
 
The Land and Environment Court in Vänersborg communicated its decision to grant a permit for increased production output at the Nordic Paper plant in Bäckhammar, Sweden. The new permit allows for Nordic Paper to, after investments, increase its production of paper pulp in Bäckhammar by more than 20% and of kraft papers by more than 10%.

Stora Enso has entrusted the leading full-line supplier Voith with the conversion of a former paper machine. The machine at the northern Finnish site in Oulu previously produced coated graphic papers.
 
Cascades announced that it has purchased a new EVOL press for its Piscataway, New Jersey, corrugated packaging converting facility.
 
Voith will convert an idled paper machine at Stora Enso's Oulu Mill in northern Finland to the production of high-volume consumer board. The machine, paper machine 6, which previously produced coated graphic papers, will have the capacity to produce 750,000 tons per year of folding boxboard (FBB) and coated kraft back (CKB). Start-up is scheduled for early 2025.
