AF&PA Announces New Board Leadership and Members

The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) announced the election of Global CEO of Pratt Industries, Inc. Brian McPheely as AF&PA Board Chair and released its 2023 slate of AF&PA Board Officers.

Industry leaders attended the association's Winter Board of Directors’ Meeting on February 2, 2023.

"The paper and wood products industry is a proud leader in sustainability and manufactures essential products people use every day," said McPheely. "As we continue to find innovative solutions and be responsible stewards of the environment, I'm excited to work with AF&PA and help advance the Better Practices, Better Planet 2030 sustainability initiative.

"Brian's experience in paper, packaging and recovered fiber sector will be vital to our industry's success regarding sustainability and innovation," said AF&PA President and CEO Heidi Brock. "2023 is an exciting year for our industry as we look to advocate for our products, and policies that will advance our priorities."

Additional elected officers are Howard Coker, President & CEO, Sonoco Products Company (First Vice Chair), and David Sewell, President & CEO, WestRock Company (Second Vice Chair). Christian Fischer, President & CEO, Georgia-Pacific LLC, will serve as Immediate Past Chair.

The AF&PA Board of Directors comprises top industry leaders representing a broad spectrum of companies in the paper and wood products manufacturing sector.

AF&PA also welcomed 5 new directors:
• Arsen Kitch, President and Chief Executive Officer, Clearwater Paper Corporation
• Charles Hodges, President and Chief Operating Officer, Hood Container Corporation
• Dick Carmical, Chief Executive Officer, The Price Companies, Inc.
• Mark Ushpol, Executive Vice President, Food & Consumer Packaging, Ahlstrom
• Ole Rosgaard, President and Chief Executive Officer, Greif, Inc.

In addition to announcing these newly elected directors, AF&PA also welcomed new company and associate members:
