Sappi Europe announced the initiation of a consultation process at its Kirkniemi Mill in Finland as part of a proposed asset restructure. This step is being taken in response to a structural decline in demand across Europe and sustained financial challenges. The proposed changes are intended to ensure long term competitiveness in the Graphic Paper Market and align production capacity with changing market dynamics and customer needs.

Runtech Systems delivered a web stabilization improvement project to Visy. The delivery to Gibson Island PM8 included RunPro Web Stabilizers for single- and double-felted drying sections and EVst pocket ventilators. Stabilizer high-release nozzles are fed with RunPro Turbo Compressors to create effective vacuum levels on sheet release point of top dryers. In addition, tail threading was updated into ropeless after drying section with RunShooter technology.

Mondi recently announced the construction of a new biomass power plant at its integrated pulp and paper mill in Ružomberok, Slovakia. The new power plant will replace the existing bark boiler and is scheduled for completion in 2027.
