The application deadline for the PMPI Mentor Me program is quickly approaching! Please submit your application to serve as a mentee or mentor by 5pm on Monday, April 15th.

What is the Mentor Me program?
Mentor Me is a mentorship program designed for students to learn from industry professionals. Members have the opportunity to serve as mentors to students, providing both the opportunity to grow from one another. Students will benefit from learning outside the classroom and receiving guidance in the meetings industry, while industry professionals will benefit from having a direct influence on the student’s career growth and success in the program.

This student program is designed to meet the student’s specific needs and expectations. Once the student is paired up with their mentor, they have one academic calendar year (September 2013 – May 2014) to fulfill their goals and objectives.

What is expected of a Mentee?
A Mentee has to be committed to making the experience successful and valuable. Mentees must take the initiative to attend PMPI events and communicate regularly with their mentor. Mentees should also identify their goals and objectives for their participation in the program.

What is expected of a Mentor?
A Mentor must be passionate about the student’s success. A mentor commits to holding four, one-on-one meetings with their mentee throughout the year. Some examples of one-on-one meetings can be "Take Your Mentee to Work Day" or invite them out to a PMPI Educational Experience or event. Each mentor will receive monthly modules to help guide the mentoring process. The mentor can utilize these resources or develop his/her own process. Mentoring can focus on a variety of topics including: personal and professional development, career advice, ethics and leadership, etc.

The deadline to submit your application is 5:00pm on Monday, April 15th!

This year’s Silent Auction will be powered by online service Bidding For Good. This awesome site allows you to view and bid online before and during Derby Days for our terrific auction items. As a donor your exposure intensifies greatly for Bidding For Good has a following of over 300,000 bidders viewing all items in the system!

We will open the auction on April 15 and close it at the Derby Days event on April 25. Here are some reasons to consider a donation to the silent auction or providing a sponsorship:

♥ Proceeds received will also help augment the cost of professional development and other various member benefits of PMPI

♥ You will receive recognition via Bidding For Good to over 300,000 on line bidders and the evening of the event.

We encourage you to be creative and invite our planners to participate in this opportunity. Why not consider providing lunch with your congressman; or providing a piece of art by a beloved artist; or extending a wine tour at a local Virginia winery? Of course hotel accommodations, airline tickets, transportation items, etc. are perennial winners.

Be creative, have fun! Donating is easy too.

Click here and you will be connected to PMPI's Bidding For Good Auction page. Follow the prompts to place your donation on line including photographs and links to your organization's website.

Michele was such a huge hit at MACE that we’re bringing her back to PMPI to help us do our jobs more effectively. Analyzing your stakeholders is critical to the success of every project or assignment in every organization. By engaging the right people in the right way, you can make a big difference to your project’s success – and to your career. As your career develops, the projects you manage and actions you take will affect more and more people – the more likely your actions will impact those who have power and influence over your projects or career. These stakeholders could be strong supporters of your work – or they could block it. Understanding stakeholder management is a critical business skill that successful people use to win support from others.
