Perspective – What Do You See?

Perspective shapes the way we write, behave or discuss how we interpret people, experiences or events. It’s a point of view. How we view our life events depends on our individual life experiences, culture or perception of identity.

Our experiences can be interpreted in different ways if we manage to look at them from different perspectives. We are better able to understand others and work in harmony if we accept or try to understand other viewpoints. As an exercise in looking at things from a different perspective, examine the following visuals and answer the questions beneath each.

1.  What two images do you see here?

April is Diversity Month, and the MPI Potomac DE&I Committee, in partnership with our DE&I Sponsor of the Month – Visit Raleigh, will be sharing more on diversity and perspective throughout the month of April. Why are diverse teams important? Diverse teams provide different perspectives, which result in different solutions. They are, therefore, better at solving problems, resulting in higher productivity, efficiency and innovation. Additionally, culturally diverse groups can use their strengths to overcome the shortcomings of others, which invariably turns them into a powerful group. All this leads to higher revenue and profits and a better retention.
