If people can't see themselves reflected in your brand, they won't engage with it. And if people aren't engaging with your brand, they aren't buying from your brand. By not incorporating DEI, you are excluding potential and current community members/consumers and leaving money on the table. Here are a few ideas to get you started with your plans to celebrate diversity within your organization:

1. Highlight how Black people created (historically), are creating (presently) and can create (futuristically) an impact in your organization & industry. This can be a social media campaign or an email segment. Tie-in opportunities on how to engage with your org to further the impact.

2. Amplify (diverse & new!) LatinX voices in your community. Do a social media takeover where members & industry leaders can use your platform to center their stories, share their experiences, & inspire young professionals of color as they look to advance in their careers.

3. Hire a BIPOC speaker/LGBTQIA-owned vendor to support an upcoming event, program, or project.

4. Include persons with disabilities in the developing of your marketing and communications collateral as well as your conference agenda. Ensure your content is reflective of not only the community you serve, but the world we live in.

5. Celebrate and partner with a minority & diverse-led organization that is making a difference in your industry. Donate to these groups, create co-designed programs, or highlight them in your communications.

6. Design women-led programming for your organization, such as a webinar on any relevant topic vital to your community or a fireside chat about the life and legacy of those leaders and the significance of the month.

Now more than ever, it's vital for event professionals to utilize the power of their role to ensure the work we do is inclusive and accessible to all. Designing an inclusive brand is a winning strategy for all involved.
