Janene Sims, OD, PhD, FAAO, is the state’s 2022 Optometric Educator of the Year. The American Optometric Association granted the associate professor this honor.
 
The Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO) at Salus University chapter of the Student Optometric Service to Humanity (SOSH) went on a humanitarian trip for 10 days in late November 2022 to La Barca, Jalisco, Mexico.
 
Thomas Lewis, OD ‘70, PhD, FAAO, past president of the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO) at Salus University, was recognized for his 50 years of service to the University during the institution’s annual Length of Service Awards given at the end of 2022.
 
In its 24th year, the annual Springer Lecture brings a distinguished vision scientist or clinician to the UAB School of Optometry to share knowledge with students and faculty. Leo Semes, OD, FAAO, was the 2022 guest lecturer.
 
On December 4th, 2022, the Class of 2020 gathered together with family, friends, faculty, and staff to celebrate their graduation; after a two and a half year delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
 
Representatives from 20 state optometry associations attended Southern College of Optometry’s annual State Day event in January.
 
Midwestern University (MWU) upholds the One Health initiative throughout all of its eight colleges, including the Arizona College of Optometry (AZCOPT).
