David Friess Receives Public Service Award from PCO/Salus

David Friess, OD ‘02, FAAO, has been given the Public Service Award from Salus University’s Alumni Association.

As the current vice president of Global Medical Affairs at STAAR Surgical, a leading developer and manufacturer of implantable lenses and companion delivery systems for the eye, Dr. Friess helped launch Project MyVision, a charitable lens-based refractive surgery program.

He has also remained connected in a variety of ways to the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO) at Salus since his graduation, not only serving in various positions on the Alumni Association board, but he was also instrumental in developing a partnership between STAAR Surgical and PCO/Salus, its clinical facility, The Eye Institute and James Lewis, MD, a Salus University consulting ophthalmologist, along with support from the facility where he performs lens-based refractive surgery.
