Optometry Gives Me Life Campaign Wins Silver

ASCO's national public awareness campaign, Optometry Gives Me Life (OGML), won a Silver award given by the American Advertising Federation (AAF) Greater Rochester in February. The AAF Greater Rochester is an affiliate of the American Advertising Federation. The campaign will go on to compete at the district level, which includes all the major markets in the Northeast.

The OGML campaign launched in the digital space in March 2019. The campaign was born out of data from ASCO's educational institutions about showing a troubling decline in awareness by America's youth about the profession of optometry as a rewarding health career, resulting in a decrease in qualified applicants and no change in the diversity of those applicants. During this time, ASCO’s leadership made addressing optometric education’s applicant pool its number one priority in the ASCO’s five-year Strategic Plan.

The OGML campaign also won the Silver Award in the biggest and most prestigious medical marketing awards – the MM&M Awards in 2022, in addition to the American Society of Association Executives’ Power of A Award in 2020.

More information on the OGML campaign presented at the AAF Greater Rochester awards ceremony can be found here.
