Bausch + Lomb Launches Biotrue® Hydration Boost Lubricant Eye Drops, Announces Biotrue® Eye Care Recycling Program and Expands Cylinder Powers for Bausch + Lomb ULTRA® Multifocal for Astigmatism Lenses

Bausch + Lomb continues to expand its portfolio of innovations and programs.

The latest addition to its over-the-counter portfolio is Biotrue® Hydration Boost Lubricant eye drops. Inspired by the biology of the eye, these eye drops can be used while wearing soft contact lenses* and provide instant moisture and relief for irritated, dry eyes, and help maintain ocular surface homeostasis. They are also pH-balanced to match healthy tears with ingredients that include an electrolyte, a component of natural tears, hyaluronan (HA), a moisturizer naturally found in tears, and an antioxidant, to protect HA from free radicals.

The Biotrue® Hydration Boost Lubricant Eye Drops, as well as all brands of eye drop single dose units, lens cases and lens solution caps†, can also now be recycled through the company’s newest recycling program, the Biotrue® Eye Care Recycling Program, which is the first and only eye care recycling program in the United States.

This program builds on the company’s existing ONE by ONE Recycling Program, which are both made possible through a collaboration with TerraCycle, the world leader in the collection and repurposing of hard-to-recycle post-consumer plastic waste. Together, the ONE by ONE and Biotrue Eye Care Recycling programs have collected more than 41 million units of used contact lens, eye care and lens care materials, and encouraged more than 7,000 eye care professionals to participate in the programs.

In Vision Care, the company launched expanded parameters for Bausch + Lomb ULTRA® Multifocal for Astigmatism contact lenses. This expansion, which includes the addition of -2.25D and -2.75D cylinders, is part of the standard offering and provides more patients with astigmatism and presbyopia a readily available multifocal toric lens that provides clear vision at all distances and exceptional comfort.

There are an estimated 32 million people in the United States living with both astigmatism and presbyopia who could potentially wear contact lenses. Historically, though, there have been few readily available soft contact lens options without compromise, making it challenging for eye care professionals to fit these patients. Bausch + Lomb ULTRA® Multifocal for Astigmatism lenses were specifically designed to meet the lifestyle and vision needs of this important patient population.
