ASCO Student Affairs Officers Meet Virtually for First Time Ever
The ASCO Student Affairs Officers (SAOs) held their first ever virtual meeting sponsored by Alcon on Tuesday, June 23. They were originally scheduled to meet during the National Association of Advisors for the Health Professions meeting in New Orleans. They discussed a variety of issues, including OptomCAS and the use of the OAT and other standardized exams in the admissions process. The breakout sessions included retention, challenges and initiatives on campus, COVID-19 impact on recruitment and the admissions cycle, COVID-19 student wellness and assessments used in the admissions process. The highlight of the day was the workshop speaker, Nikki McGruder of the Inclusive Impact Institute, who presented on the timely topic of implicit bias.
