Salus PCO Grad Joins Philadelphia Eagles Cheerleading Team

Salus University Pennsylvania College of Optometry’s Cristina Rosano, OD ‘20, has been chosen to be one of 38 members of the Philadelphia Eagles cheerleading team for the upcoming National Football League season.

Dr. Rosano was one of 576 candidates, spanning 23 states in addition to Canada, Japan, and Mexico, who went through several rounds of auditions to make the team. Of the 38 members, she is one of eight first-year cheerleaders.

The announcement happened the same week that Dr. Rosano signed on to be a full-time Doctor of Optometry in the Philadelphia region.

“The Eagles know what my job is and I’m going to be able to work to the fullest extent,” she said. “And, I’ve also talked to my new employer about my side gig with the Eagles and they are very excited about it as well.”

Dr. Rosano will be required to practice with the team two nights a week, as well as participate in some community events. The cheerleaders only perform at Eagles home games.

The Eagles Charitable Foundation also partners with Vision to Learn to offer eye exams to students in the Philadelphia School District, a program in which Dr. Rosano also hopes to be involved.

“My hope is that this platform that I’ve been given will show young boys and girls that you can do it all, there is no ceiling to what you can accomplish,” said Dr. Rosano.
