Haag-Streit Group Acquires VRMagic
Haag-Streit proudly announces that VRmagic will join the Haag-Streit Group. By acquiring a majority stake in VRmagic, the Haag-Streit Group is rounding out its offering for optometrists in the key field of training. With the additional technological competency of VRmagic in the fields of digital image processing and virtual reality, the Haag-Streit Group is continuing to expand its leading position.
VRmagic was established in 2001 and is a pioneer for virtual and augmented reality technology in medical training. The solutions developed by VRmagic permit a realistic and dynamic simulation of examinations of and operations on the eye. The virtual reality simulators thus offers prospective eye care specialists a realistic training environment.
ASCO members may be familiar with VRmagic’s Eyesi® Indirect Ophthalmoscope training simulator for BIO examinations and Eyesi® Direct Ophthalmoscope virtual reality simulator for direct ophthalmoscopy.
In 2018, Haag-Streit Diagnostics and VRmagic collaborated on the development of the Eyesi® Slit Lamp Simulator. This virtual reality technology is integrated into the Haag-Streit BQ900 slit lamp, allowing an examination of virtual patients with the biomicroscope, funduscopy lens or gonioscopy lens.
