Are you a new dentist 0-10 years out of dental school? The Oregon Dental Association and the ODA’s New Dentist Council are excited to present an opportunity to connect with peers for one hour of CE followed by a social event to watch the two-time NWSL champions Portland Thorns take on the 2022 NWSL expansion team San Diego Waves at Providence Park on August 27th! The cost of the event is $40 with a percentage of the proceeds benefiting the Dental Foundation of Oregon. Space is limited. Register here! Nominations are open for the 2022 Tom Tucker Humanitarian Award. The Tom Tucker Humanitarian Award is the highest humanitarian and service award for the dentists of Oregon. Award criteria includes:

The Dentists of Oregon Political Action Committee (DOPAC) Board is looking for new volunteers to represent Southern Willamette Dental Society and Clackamas County Dental Society. We’re living through a time of uncertainty, and it’s normal to feel stressed and anxious. We have many challenges that lie ahead, and if you feel the need to reach out to someone, we are here and you are not alone. ODA's Wellness Program offers a robust network of compassionate Wellness Ambassadors, armed with resources to help support colleagues. Compliance Corner
The Paid Family & Medical Leave program launch is just around the corner—employers will start collecting PFMLI contributions January 1, 2023. Employees will be able to access benefits starting September 1, 2023. The official Contribution Rate for 2023 has been set. It will be 1% of employee wages up to a maximum of $132,900 with 60% of the rate set by employees and 40% set by employers. Questions? The webinar will also be recorded for later viewing. The Oregon Dental Association is looking for a new representative on the PDMP Advisory Commission. This is a 4-year commitment, with an option for reappointment. The Advisory Commission meets in Portland quarterly on the third Friday of the months of January, April, July, and October from 1:00-3:30 p.m. Reach out to Jen Lewis-Goff, ODA Associate Executive Director, for more information and application assistance. The Oregon Board of Dentistry voted to delay the implementation of the new CE requirements for providers placing implants until January 1, 2024. Providers are encouraged to use this time to take any additional training to ensure compliancy beginning on that date. Read the original rules and FAQ here, and watch for more additional information forthcoming soon. Beginning July 1, 2022, health care providers who receive reimbursement from state funds are required to use certified or qualified healthcare interpreters from the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) registry. This registry contains over 900 participants and guarantees that patients receive services from qualified interpreters. You can find more detailed information on the new policy and requirements by visiting the Health Care Interpreter Program website.
