You may receive a call or email from Clean Water Services to set up an inspection of your dental facility’s amalgam waste separators. Based on new federal rules, some existing and new sources must submit a one-time compliance report to their pretreatment Control Authority (Clean Water Services). This report will be provided by Clean Water Services at the time of inspection. While Oregon has had existing statutory requirements about amalgam waste disposal for quite some time, the new certification/reporting requirement is new based on recent federal rule changes. Please click here for additional resources and more information.

House Bill 4143, passed during the 2018 Legislative Session, was targeted at the opioid epidemic in Oregon.  As part of that bill, all prescribers active with the United States Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) are required to register with the PDMP.  According to the 2018 Second Quarter report, there has been a 52 percent increase in dentist accounts, and a 42percent increase in dentist usage.
