Dear Members,

As we get closer to two of NYSAE’s most prestigious events, Meet NY 2020 and the Synergy Awards Luncheon, I already feel the enthusiasm from our membership and I am beaming with excitement! During a year of transition, the dedicated volunteers from both the Meet NY and the Synergy Awards Committees have been hard at work for months innovating and carefully reengineering their events to improve engagement, curating stellar programming and significantly benefitting the association executive and hospitality partner communities. What’s new? Here is just a sneak peek.

This year’s Meet NY on February 26 is a full house with approximately 500 planners and c-suite executives. We kick off with a welcome reception hosted by Northeast Convention Visitors Bureau Representatives, followed by our educational sessions; Michael Cerbelli and his trendy “Hot List™,” and an interview with a creative team member from “Tina – the Tina Turner Musical.” After the trade show, silent auction, food and drink, our crowd will fill the theatre for the Tina Turner musical. When the curtain closes, there will be an exclusive talk back with the cast! Here’s the full Meet NY schedule.

Thank you to Meet NY co-chairs Betsy Totten and Matt Schechter, and their committee, for putting together this truly dynamic event.

This year’s Synergy Awards Luncheon and Annual Meeting will be held on May 13 at the Harvard Club New York City. This year the awards committee approached the program from the ground up, adding and restructuring existing awards to meet the needs of our ever-evolving industry. We broke news that Stuart Ruff-Lyon, CMP, DES, Vice President of Events and Exhibitions, Risk Insurance Management Society and Alan Steel, President & CEO, Javits Center have been awarded as our Meetings Professional of the Year and Lifetime Achievement Award winners respectively. This week we announced our next honoree; Joi Gordon, CEO of Dress for Success, as our Chief Executive of the Year. We are so excited to honor and recognize these powerhouses for their contributions to our industry.

We’ve been promoting the event for only two weeks, revealing one winner at a time, and we’ve already sold 40% of our available tables. Hurry and get your ticket so that you’re not left out! Here are the details of the Synergy Awards.

Thank you to our co-chairs Terry Lawler and Annette Homan, and their Synergy Awards committee, for all the work they have put in to ensure the success of the awards program.

To all of you who will be joining us at these events, we look forward to seeing you there.

All my best,
Holly
