Last week at the REALTORS Conference & Trade Expo in New Orleans, the National Association of REALTORS Delegate Body approved an amendment to Article 10 of the Code of Ethics to prohibit discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation. In a roll-call vote, more than 93 percent of the Delegate Body voted in favor of the amendment.

NYSAR has been on the front lines supporting this issue since early 2009. In addition, NYSAR 2008 President Linda Page, 2010 chair of NAR's Professional Standards Committee, and Leah Caro, 2010 chair of NYSAR's Professional Standards Committee, spoke at the Delegate Body meeting in support of the amendment.

According to the latest poll by the Siena Research Institute (SRI), New York State consumer home buying plans increased 0.6 points to 4.3 percent in October. Overall, New York State consumer confidence increased 3.1 points, the largest single month increase in fifteen months.

In its U.S. Foreclosure Market Report for November 2010, which reports default notices, scheduled auctions and bank repossessions in the month of October, RealtyTrac Inc. reported New York State had 3,823 total foreclosures, down 20.3 percent from October 2009 and up 4.23 percent from September 2010.

New York State ranked number 43 of all 50 states for monthly total foreclosure filings with one in every 2,087 homes receiving a foreclosure filing.

The New York State Association of REALTORS was selected as the winner of the National Association of REALTORS' REALTOR Party video video contest for its "RPAC Works for Me" video filmed during the Fall Business Meetings in Rye Brook. The video was shown at the NAR booth at November's REALTORS Conference and Trade Expo in New Orleans. It will also be provided to New York State local boards/associations in 2011.
