NRMCA was well represented at the recent 23rd Annual Maryland Concrete Conference, co-hosted by the Maryland Ready Mixed Concrete Association (MRMCA), Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). This year’s conference marked the first time that there were three learning tracks, with Private Sector Pavements added to the agenda, complementing the Public Infrastructure and Mid-Rise Buildings tracks.

There is still space availalbe for the next NRMCA Concrete Durability Course scheduled for May 16 - 18 at the Tennessee Concrete Association office in Antioch, TN (Nashville area). The course is taught by Kevin Folliard, University of Texas at Austin; Anton Schindler of Auburn University and NRMCA Engineering Staff. The course provides a fundamental understanding of the nature of cement and concrete as they relate to durability of concrete in a wide range of exposures. Topics will cover cracking, alkali-aggregate reactions, sulfate attack, corrosion of reinforcing steel, freeze-thaw durability and other aspects.
