Late last month, Jesse Jonas, PE, of the Concrete Council and Illinois Ready Mixed Concrete Association delivered an online presentation titled PROWAG (Public Rights of Way Accessibility Guidelines) Rules for ADA Compliance to more than 450 participants via Zoom. The event was hosted by the Ohio Concrete Association and attended by several member states affiliated with the Great Lakes Cement Promotion Council.

Longtime NRMCA, TMMB member and industry leader Thomas J. Harris died August 23 at 68.

 

Mr. Harris was born in 1957 in Austin, MN, and moved to Dodge Center, MN, in 1979 where he began a 38-year career at McNeilus Companies. He is survived by his wife, Becky, daughters Katy (Martijn) Bos of Rochester, MN; Lora (Brandon) Smith of Sauk Rapids, MN; Natalie (Colleen Powers) Harris of Minneapolis and five grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Mildred Harris; oldest brother Robert Harris and nephew Dave Harris.

NRMCA congratulates Jim Carreira (shown here at right with NRMCA's Frank Mruk) and his colleagues at Producer member Boston Sand & Gravel for earning the 2025 Concrete Innovation Award for One Milestone, a mixed use building in downtown Boston. The award was presented earlier this month at a Massachusetts Concrete & Aggregates Producers Association meeting held in Framingham, MA.

 

 

 

NRMCA has announced the winners of the 2025 NRMCA Environmental Excellence Awards. Now in its 30th year, the program offers NRMCA Producer members national recognition for outstanding contributions to protecting the environment and maintaining sound environmental management practices in their operations. The program salutes companies that have not only met but surpassed governmental compliance requirements and demonstrated a commitment to environmental excellence through plant and staff investment. 

The Massachusetts Port Authority invited NRMCA, the Massachusetts Concrete & Aggregates Producers Association (MaCAPA) and the MIT CSHub to an embodied carbon workshop to share concrete industry knowledge. Other participants included representatives from the design consulting  and construction communities as well as Massport’s in-house design, construction and sustainability personnel.
