Lionel Lemay, executive vice president, structures and sustainability, has transitioned away from his role with NRMCA and the Association’s Build With Strength program. We recognize and thank Mr. Lemay for his commitment to the Association and the broader concrete industry. He shared his talents with NRMCA for 20+ years. We wish Mr. Lemay well in his future endeavors. In an effort to continue seamless support of NRMCA’s broad promotion efforts, Brian Killingsworth, executive vice president, local paving, will expand his reach on an interim basis to support and drive both the Build With Strength and Pave Ahead programs. The Washington Aggregates & Concrete Association (WACA) and the American Concrete Institute's Washington state chapter will join Build With Strength to host a 3-day low carbon concrete symposium. The Illinois Ready Mixed Concrete Association and the Concrete Council presented a Concrete 101 training session at the Illinois Chapter of the American Public Works Association's "Roads Scholar" Program in Effingham, IL, on May 13. "The audience was extremely engaged, asking great questions and learning valuable information to take back to their agencies regarding concrete solutions," he said. "Within this training, information was included on concrete trails, concrete overlays, resilience and a good understanding of balanced asset management plans that incorporate long lasting concrete solutions." As of Tuesday morning, May 27, four spots remain for Producer members. The Associate member and state affiliate slots are now all filled. As the nominations are first received, first accepted, there is benefit in submitting as early as possible. The nomination window will be open until Friday, June 20, OR whenever the cohort is filled. The cost for the 15-month leadership experience is $2,750. The NRMCA’s Annual Safety Award acknowledges the significant contribution that safe work practices give to the growth and success of individual companies and the ready mixed concrete industry as a whole. The award is presented to an individual or company whose actions represent the very highest in the advancement of safety in the ready mixed concrete industry.
NRMCA Senior Director, Building Innovations, Brandon Wray displayed a number of cement and concrete innovations at the recent USGBC-CA Green Building Conference held in San Francisco. Wray's session, Cement and Concrete Materials Showcase, featured presentations from NRMCA members, including CalPortland Company, National Cement (National Ready Mixed Concrete Company), Fortera and C-Crete Technologies.

NRMCA is now accepting applications for the Excellence in Quality Award. A company must be an NRMCA Producer member in good standing to participate; companies can enter as a company or a division. Applicants are asked to respond to a multiple-choice type application form. Companies or divisions that achieve a score of 75% or greater will qualify for the award and will be recognized at NRMCA's ConcreteWorks 2025 scheduled for October 10 - 12 in Orlando, FL. NRMCA’s Commitment to Environmental Excellence Awards competition offers producers national recognition for outstanding contributions to protecting the environment and maintaining sound management practice in their operations. The program salutes companies that have not only met, but surpassed governmental compliance measures and demonstrated a commitment to environmental excellence through plant and staff investment. NRMCA member companies producing ready mixed concrete from a fixed plant location in the U.S., its territories or Canada are eligible to enter. Awards will be determined upon individual plant merits. Winning entrants will be honored at the Industry Awards Ceremony at NRMCA‘s ConcreteWorks this October in Orlando, FL.
