On October 24 - 25, NRMCA Senior Director, Building Innovations, and the Concrete Specification Institute's Northeast Region Chapter President for 2025-26 Frank Mruk led a strategic planning retreat in Albany, NY. The retreat brought together the full leadership of CSI’s Northeast Region for an intensive working session focused on the future direction of one of the institute’s most diverse and influential geographic clusters.

The event convened chapter presidents and board representatives (many seen here) from across New England, including Boston, Providence, RI; Worcester, MA; New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine and Hartford and Housatonic, CT, as well as New York chapters in New York City, Long Island, Albany, Rochester, Buffalo and the Erie Canal Chapter serving the Syracuse-Utica corridor. Collectively, these chapters form a continuous network spanning northern New England through metropolitan New York and across western New York State, representing thousands of AEC professionals engaged in specification writing, materials science, construction technology and design leadership.

Over the two days participants conducted a comprehensive review of regional goals, professional development programs, student engagement initiatives and cross-chapter collaboration models. The discussions highlighted opportunities for stronger alignment with emerging industry priorities, including performance-driven specifications, digital workflows and material resilience.

NRMCA continues to promote the benefits of innovative resilient construction solutions. For more information, contact Frank Mruk at fmruk@nrmca.org.
