NRMCA Vice President, Building Innovations, Michael Wymant recently presented at the High-Performance Construction with Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF) conference held at Polar Park in Worcester, MA, on the crucial topic of the decarbonization of concrete. After thanking hosts Tremco CPG Inc. and the Northern New England Concrete Association he noted that seeing so many architects, engineers and contractors engaged in finding solutions for more sustainable building was truly inspiring.

The conference was packed with crucial information on building performance, specifically the benefits of Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF). Presentations underscored the importance of building resiliency, school design using ICFs and the immense energy efficiency that these systems offer. The event featured a stellar lineup of speakers, including Joseph Lstiburek of Building Science Corporation, Ben Kleine-Kracht, PE, Emily Gill, PE, Emily Bartos of CMTA, Inc., Kristian Whitsett, Molly Clark and Nayef Mudawar of Jones Whitsett Architects, Andy Horgan of Nudura Insulated Concrete Forms, and Greg Diamond of Tremco Roofing and Building Maintenance.

The conference included a site tour of an addition to the David Prouty High School which utilized Nudura ICF's. Wymant (seen here) also thanked Paul S. Haughey, Ed.D., the school staff, Atlantic Builders Supply Northeast and Robert Haley, building enclosure specialist at Tremco CPG Inc.for their support.

Finally, Wymant welcomed the return of former Connecticut Construction Industries Association staff member Dominic Di Cenzo to industry events. Wymant stated that Di Cenzo's contributions and presence are always valued and the NRMCA "is glad to have him back in the saddle."

"The conversations we had at the conference are exactly what is needed to propel the industry toward more resilient, sustainable and lower-carbon construction in the future," Wymant concluded.
