The Summer 2025 newsletter of the National Concrete Consortium (NC2) has the following items:
- Curing for Exterior Concrete Slabs: The Summer 2025 NC² Moving Advancements into Practice (MAP) Brief from the NC² Resource Library provides guidance to agencies on specifying and monitoring curing practices for concrete slabs.
- Field Performance of Fiber-Reinforced Concrete Overlays: This study evaluated six different concrete overlays with a variety of thicknesses, joint layouts and fiber reinforcement options. It provides a number of insights into aspects of concrete overlay design and performance with and without fiber reinforcement.
- Influence of Internal Curing on Concrete’s Permeability in Simulated Field Conditions: This study presents the results of permeability and strength testing on internally cured concrete mixtures created under hybrid curing conditions that are more realistic than the fully saturated curing conditions described in AASHTO T358.
- Impact of the Meta-Kaolinite Content of Calcined Clay Sources on the Mechanical and Durability Performance of Blended Portland Concrete: This study demonstrated the significant impact of the kaolinite content in clay sources on the mechanical and durability performance of binary and ternary concrete mixes containing calcined clays.
