Impeachment: What’s going on? If anyone has ever watched a Law and Order episode where the detective interviews a group of crazy kids who’ve committed a crime and every one of them has different stories…. Yeah, sorting out what’s happening with impeachment is kind of like that. All the major players seem to have wildly divergent views on how and when this whole thing will go down, so I can only summarize what they’re saying. In the House, Pelosi is currently holding the articles of impeachment, and announced today she will release them next week. Some staffers have not ruled out another run for impeachment if new info comes to light, particularly given Bolton’s statement this week he is willing to testify before the Senate. Leadership hasn’t spoken publicly on the issue. In the Senate Schumer and McConnell have yet to agree on the rules for the trial and at this point it looks like McConnell will cobble together some sort of rules and get 51 senators to approve it and in the meantime has vowed to run regular business. The DNC has also said debate dates could change based on impeachment since so many sitting senators would be on the stage. In summation: we will probably have impeachment in the Senate at some point in Q1, using rules that have yet to be determined and resulting in a verdict that already is.
Senator Wayne (D) introduced LB 864
on 1/9/2020 which would require PMPs to inspect and treat for bed bugs when tenants experience them. This bill is largely based off of the Colorado bill HB 1328
that was enacted into law last year. Basically, the tenant gets bed bugs and the landlord must hire a PMP to inspect and treat for bed bugs in most circumstances. It is important to note that LB 864 only applies to cities of the Metropolitan Class, in which only Omaha is classified. NSPCA is working with the Senator and his office to see if there is any chance to expand the scope of the bill to additional parts of the state. At first glance, the bill is written this way for political feasibility. If passed, LB 864 would be a huge win for our industry as PMPs would be a private-sector solution to Omaha’s bed bug problem and help its over 450,000 residents. Great job by Nebraska Vice-SPAR Carl Braun and SPAR Travis Lucas getting this bill introduced.

Leaders need to understand what employees need, then constantly remake our programs so we break through the clutter and give employees great communication.
Let’s Grow Leaders
How do you lead when people don’t have to follow? As work becomes more complex and people develop more specialized knowledge and skills, cross-functional teams, ad-hoc teams, and temporary project teams are increasingly common.
It’s all about your “stress mindset.” The good news is, with a bit of effort, you can improve your reaction to daily stressors.
