During the 118th Annual Conference & FIRE 2024 Expo, 34 classes will be presented for Full Term Registrants from June 12-15 in Syracuse. 2024 lecturers include Chief (Ret.) Tom Richardson (FDNY), Deputy Assistant Chief (Ret.) John Norman (FDNY), Deputy District Chief (Ret.) Steve Chikerotis (Chicago F.D.), Deputy Chief (Ret.) Butch Cobb (Jersey City F.D.), Chief Robert Moran (Brewster F.D.) & Lt. John Lewis (Passaic F.D.), District Chief Moses Jefferies IV (Nashville F.D.), Lt. Mike Ciampo (FDNY), and Captain Doug Mitchell (FDNY)! Certified EMS providers can earn CMEs for completing the 6 EMS track programs.
 
 
   
Join NYSAFC on a new day and at a new location – Saturday, June 15, 8:00 a.m., at Equitable Towers in Syracuse – for our climb to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11th. This event will benefit the FDNY Counseling Services Unit and National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. Registration is $35 per climber or virtual climber. Free parking is available at the nearby Oncenter garage.

OSHA is in the process of proposing to issue a new safety and health standard, titled Emergency Response, to replace the existing Fire Brigades (1910.156) Standard that was published in 1980. The deadline for comment submission has been extended to June 21, 2024.

Onondaga County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Michael Hoosock also served as a battalion chief for the Moyers Corners Fire Department and medic for Manlius Fire Department. Hoosock and Syracuse Police Department Officer Michael Jensen were lost in the line of duty on April 14.
 
A Brooklyn merchant wound up in fire marshals’ handcuffs for improper storage of highly-flammable lithium-ion batteries inside his business — the first arrest of its kind ever reported in New York City, FDNY officials announced.
 
Troopers manned a hoseline to fight a well-advanced house fire.
 
The new service is being operated out of the Ilion fire station and will be staffed by part-time medical providers. None of the current full-time Ilion firefighters will be utilized for the service. It will, however, be under the command of Ilion Fire Chief Andrew Monahan.
 
Captain Mark Egloff received the Buffalo Fire Department's first-ever line of duty cancer diagnosis. Thanks to early detection, he's now cancer-free, back on the job, and sharing his story.

Contact any participating company to request tickets for NYSAFC's FIRE 2024 Expo. Each ticket allows entry to the exhibit hall at The Oncenter in Syracuse on any one day – Thursday, June 13 – Saturday, June 15. More than 100 vendors (and counting) are participating. Also, kids 15 and under can enter the exhibits for free and free parking will be available in The Oncenter garage, located across the street from the event venue. Tickets can also be purchased in advance or at the door.
