Due to unforeseen circumstances, some programs in the 2023 Seminar Series "Truck Skills Beyond the Textbooks” with Lieutenant Mike Ciampo (FDNY) have been rescheduled for later this year. New dates have been announced for the following counties: Erie (November 16), Fulton (November 14), Orange (November 21), Otsego (November 9), and Westchester (November 13). Seminars in the following counties will be held as previously scheduled: Albany (October 23), Monroe (November 8), Oneida (October 25), Rockland (November 6), St. Lawrence (November 15), Saratoga (October 24), and Wyoming (November 2). Students who pre-registered for programs in the impacted counties will be notified. Refunds can be requested for those who are unable to attend on the new date.

Firefighters in Chaumont contained the fire at the Convergent Energy and Power site.
 
Less than 24 hours after fire erupted at the solar farm in the town of Lyme, Governor Kathy Hochul announced the creation of a new safety group. It’s called the Inter-Agency Fire Safety Working Group and its job is to ensure the safety and security of energy storage systems across the state.
 
DHSES OFPC, NYSERDA, DEC, DPS, and DOS to examine energy storage facility fires and safety standards. NYSERDA and other state agencies to begin immediate safety inspections on energy storage facilities.

Deputy State Fire Administrator and former Batavia Fire Chief Stefano Napolitano will be the city’s new fire chief starting September 11 this year.
 
The John D. McKean fireboat, which served the FDNY for 58 years, including responding to the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and the 2009 "Miracle on the Hudson," has been approved by the National Park Service to be listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
 
The village’s firefighters paraded proudly through town on August 5, commemorating the 125th anniversary of the Valley Stream Volunteer Fire Department.
