Chief R. Scott Ewing of Plattsburgh District #3 Fire Department (Clinton County) took office as president of NYSAFC on June 17, 2023, during the association’s 117th Annual Conference & FIRE 2023 Expo in Syracuse, NY. Congratulations to the new NYSAFC officers.

The Columbia County fire coordinator announced that firefighter Stewart Hunt of the Ancram Fire Department died in the line of duty. Hunt passed away after he suffered a medical event while performing his duties at the scene of an emergency.
 
It will mean no prison time for the two rabbis responsible for starting the deadly blaze in 2021.
 
Spring Valley firefighters at Columbian Fire Engine Co. No. 1 are upset about Rockland County DA's decision to offer a no-jail plea deal to two rabbis whose actions sparked the Evergreen Court fire.
 
On March 23, 2021, Firefighter Jared Lloyd of the Spring Valley Fire Department gave his life while rescuing elderly residents of a nursing home fire. NYSAFC is not in favor of a plea agreement in the case involving the tragic loss of Firefighter Lloyd.
 
The Saratoga Springs chief is firing back at the city over allegations of misconduct. Attorneys for Chief Joseph Dolan sent a written response to the city, disputing each of the disciplinary charges against him.
 
Trooper Richard Albert, who was injured in a shooting along I-88 in Duanesburg, is also an assistant chief with the Cobleskill Fire Department.
