The New York State Department of Health and EMS community gathered in Albany at the New York State EMS Memorial Ceremony to remember those that dedicated themselves to saving lives.
 
Just three days after the reading of names of the September 11th victims, new names were added to honor those who died this year from 9/11-related illnesses.
 
Three FDNY members died recently from 9/11-related illnesses, pushing the death toll for city firefighters who toiled at Ground Zero in the weeks after the 2001 terrorist attacks to over 300.
 
Village trustees voted 4-1 to dissolve the department in Lewis County.
 
Lewis County Manager Ryan Piche says arrangements have been made with surrounding fire protection agencies to ensure there will be zero lapses in coverage.
 
Jared Lloyd, the father of two young boys, died on March 23, 2021, as he and other firefighters rescued 112 adult home residents
 
Students of the EMT Career Pathway pilot program at Shenendehowa High School celebrated after graduating from the program. The program partnered with the town of Clifton Park to allow students who are 17 and older to get hands-on experience in the medical field.
 
The project will focus on the health challenges firefighters face and develop tools and strategies to help them.
