DOH Issues Measles Guidance for EMS
With the largest outbreak of measles in the United States in 25 years, many of them concentrated in New York state, the Department of Health issued EMS specific guidance for response. Policy Statement #19-03 discusses department documentation of members’ immunity, PPE, response procedures, and symptoms of measles. The guidance document can be downloaded here.

Statewide BLS Protocols Roll Out on August 1
The revised New York Statewide BLS Protocols (2019 version 1.0) can be implemented after August 1, 2019. Each region will determine how providers will be updated and all EMS providers will be required to complete an online training and protocol test using a new DOH learning management system. Check with your regional council for their requirements on training and keep an eye on the Bureau website for further information. The protocols are located here.
