The Boston Security Analysts Society (BSAS) changed its name to CFA Society Boston, Inc., effective January 1, 2017. CFA Society Boston is a non-profit professional society founded in 1946 that has been a point of connection for the Boston investment community, providing an open forum for the exchange of fresh perspectives on industry issues and promoting ethics and integrity. CFA Society Boston is a founding member of CFA Institute, a global organization comprised of more than 140 local societies.

More than 5,600 investment professionals locally and globally are members of CFA Society Boston, representing more than 650 investment firms. Ninety-two percent of CFA Society Boston members hold the Chartered Financial Analyst designation from CFA Institute.

The CFA Society Boston of Directors Board believes this rebranding change is in the best interests of the society’s membership and offers substantial benefits to both the organization and the investment management profession globally. These include:

• A more accurate description of our association, whose members represent multiple disciplines in the investment management industry
• Greater local and global brand awareness of the organization
• Better alignment with a global community of investment professionals
• A clearer identity that provides a stronger and more consistent voice globally for an effective investment management profession
• Enhanced outreach capabilities

The CFA Society Boston Board made this decision after extensive analysis, discussion and consultation including a member survey and comment period. A membership vote was not required as outlined in the BSAS’s bylaws.

The number of CFA charterholders around the world continues to grow, and this rebranding initiative strengthens CFA Society Boston’s ability to promote the standards and practices associated with the charter around the world.
