NENA's Friends of 9-1-1 program is happy to announce the availability of five Telecommunicator Continuing Education Scholarships!
This scholarship opportunity is open to any telecommunicator, call taker, or dispatcher with at least one year of experience and in good standing with his or her current employer. Supervisory and other managerial personnel are not eligible for this award. Each Telecommunicator Continuing Education Scholarship recipient will receive the following:
To be eligible for a scholarship, you must complete and submit the scholarship application and provide a current resume. Applications will be accepted through April 1, 2016. Scholarship winners will be notified no later than May 1, 2016.

Congratulations to Brian Tegtmeyer, the Executive Director of DUCOMM in Illinois, our Volunteer of the Quarter! Since becoming a member of the Education Advisory Board in 2012, his volunteer work has been exceptional. Brian has worked tirelessly to expand and refine education offerings particularly in those that are PSAP-centric. He has used his knowledge and experience to create course materials for telecommunicators and supervisors who are wanting to expand their knowledge of PSAP operations, as well as learn the leadership skills that are much needed in our profession. He is a professional and proficient instructor, and has taught many in-person courses and delivered NENA webinars to rave reviews. Some of his achievements include
- Assisting in the revamping/updating of the Center Manager Certification Program (CMCP);
- Becoming an outstanding instructor of the CMCP;
- Developing the Communications Trainer Officer course;
- Developing the PSAP Supervisor course;
- Assisting with the development of the Recruit, Hire, Retain, & Promote course; and
- Developing a Tactical Dispatch course.

Texas NENA ENP Study Group
Begins March 23, 2016
Every Wednesday from March 23rd through October the Texas NENA Chapter will host weekly, 1-hour study sessions, each covering a section of the ENP Body of Knowledge. Sessions will be conducted via a conference call. The weekly calls will allow candidates to prepare for the Fall ENP examination period during the two-week timeframe of October 1-15, 2016. Be sure to check the Texas NENA website for weekly topics.
The first meeting of the Texas Emergency Number Professional (ENP) Study Group will begin Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at 2:00PM Central Standard Time.

ENP Exam Prep Boot Camp at NENA 2016

This NENA 2016 Annual Conference exclusive starts off with an overview of ENP application and exam scheduling processes before jumping into a cram session to begin getting you ready to ace the test!

TECH UPDATE
NENA NG9-1-1 Data Management Requirements, NENA-REQ-002.1-2016, defines discrepancy report and the performance reports associated with processes within the Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1) system. The intent of the document is to provide 9-1-1 Authorities, vendors, Communication Service Providers (CSP), and other interested parties with guidelines for communicating issues or status of various elements within the system. The components of the document are Discrepancy Report Requirements and Performance Statistic Report Requirements.
GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS UPDATE
Each year, State legislatures pass a variety of measures in support of improved public safety and enhanced communication with emergency services. This week, in coordination with the National 911 Program, the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) announced that updates for all 2015 9-1-1-related state legislation are now available in its 911 Legislation Tracking Database.
A summary report of all 2015 enacted 9-1-1 legislation is also available.
