Volunteers Wanted

NENA will soon be launching its first cohort of the Transformative Empowerment and Mentoring (TEAM) Program. A significant and integral part of the six-month program is the monthly meetings with all of the mentors and proteges together. The Mentoring Committee seeks volunteers for an approximately two-month commitment to help design these structured, facilitated meetings with interactive content that will benefit everyone in the cohort on their journey of professional development and personal discovery.

Interested in volunteering? Email committee co-chair Cindy McCraw.

NENA seeks volunteers to help update the NENA Standard for 9-1-1 Call Processing. The document revision will include updates to support the Next Generation 9-1-1 call processing environment and ensure all methods in which calls are processed are addressed. The working group will also develop a scope for future evidence-based research for the development of call processing requirements.

The working group seeks operational and technical subject matter experts. Ideally, work group membership will include 9-1-1 personnel (dispatchers, supervisors, and administration); industry partners, especially those from technology, consulting, and training companies; data scientists; and researchers.

The working group will meet every other Tuesday from 2:00PM to 3:30PM Eastern starting May 14th.

NENA seeks a new Working Group Co-Chair for the Virtual PSAP Management (VPM) Working Group. The VPM WG is in the Public Review approval stage and needs assistance to shepherd the document through to published. The document is an ANSI-candidate document.

A Working Group Co-Chair is not required to hold a NENA membership or to be a subject-matter expert (SME). The applicant should possess administrative, facilitatory, and/or management skills related to meeting facilitation, preparation of agendas and notes, document creation and management, and overall working group discussion. Training will be provided. More information on the Roles and Responsibilities of Working Group Chairs can be found in the NENAkb and NENA-ADM-001, section 7.3.

If you are interested in applying for the VPM Working Group Co-Chair role, please complete the application located at the bottom of the Development Steering Council webpage, under NENA Development Group Documents, and return via email to the PSAP Logistics Committee Co-Chairs Amy McDowell and Diane Harris.

NENA seeks volunteers for the NENA Standard for Emergency Incident Data Object (EIDO) Work Group to shepherd the draft standard through the document review process. The group is responsible for the data content and format of the Emergency Incident Data Object, which is the representation of incident state in a Next Generation 9-1-1 system. In NG9-1-1 an Incident is a real world event that may be the subject of one or more emergency calls. The EIDO is the fundamental data object for incident state, used extensively in NG9-1-1 to exchange incident data among agencies and functional elements within an agency.

We are looking for people with operational and/or technical experience in emergency incident processing, CAD and Call Handling systems, or in designing or using JSON objects.
