An ENP scholarship opportunity is now available to current NENA members who meet the eligibility requirements for ENP Certification and plan to sit for the exam in 2026. At least ten scholarships will be awarded, with preference for those in rural counties with a population of less than 50,000. Each scholarship recipient will receive complimentary registration to take the ENP exam during the Winter 2026, Spring 2026, Summer 2026, or Fall 2026 examination period. Candidates must complete and submit the online scholarship application by Monday, November 17. Scholarship winners will be notified by Friday, December 7. On October 30, Northeastern Director Mark Fletcher, ENP announced his resignation from the NENA Board of Directors. "We are grateful for Mark’s many of years of service to both the association and the 9-1-1 community," said NENA President Lee Ann Magoski, ENP. Due to this vacancy, applications are now being accepted for the Northeastern Region Director seat on the Board. The appointee will serve as Northeastern Director for the remainder of the current two-year term, through June 2027. The board leads the organization’s more than 24,000 members in advancing NENA’s mission to improve 9-1-1 through research, standards development, training, education, outreach, and advocacy. Through its leadership, the board ensures that the needs of the association and its members are being met today and that NENA is well-positioned for the future. Having adjudicated all comments, the NENA E9-1-1 PSAP Equipment Standards document is now considered "stable." Per NENA Development Group Operational Procedures, Section 3.3.2.6, a "Stable Form Notice" is being issued and can be viewed here.
NENA seeks volunteers for the NENA NG9-1-1 Data Flow Working Group to update and convert the NG9-1-1 Data Flow Standard into an information document. While the original standard focused on traditional NG9-1-1 data flows, it no longer reflects the operational reality of today’s emergency communications environment. The current version lacks guidance on inbound text messages, images, and video streams from increasingly common sources such as public safety systems, cloud-like platforms, body-worn cameras, vehicle dash cams, and public-generated multimedia. As technology continues to evolve rapidly, this document will provide much-needed flexibility, clarity, and forward-thinking guidance for agencies integrating new data types into emergency workflows.
