Lee Ann Magoski, ENP, calls for accelerated deployment of Next Generation 9-1-1 and greater support for the workforce under the headset.
Lee Ann Magoski, ENP, has been sworn in as the new President of NENA: The 9-1-1 Association, assuming leadership of the organization’s more than 23,000 members nationwide. A seasoned public-safety professional with nearly three decades of experience, Magoski will guide NENA’s efforts to improve emergency communications through research, standards development, training, education, outreach, and advocacy.
In her address to attendees at the NENA 2025 Conference & Expo, taking place in Long Beach in her home state of California, Magoski issued a call to action for the 9-1-1 community, industry leaders, and policymakers.
"The public expects high-tech outcomes—like the ones they see on TV—without realizing that many of us are still working with infrastructure built in the 1970s. Our vision for nationwide, ubiquitous Next Generation 9-1-1 must become a reality," she said. "That means not only deploying the technology, but also building a next-generation workforce—highly trained and fully equipped to harness its potential."
Magoski currently serves as Director of Emergency Communications for the Monterey County Emergency Communications Department, where she oversees the administration and management of the county’s consolidated emergency communications system. Her 29-year career spans service as a 9-1-1 telecommunicator, supervisor, and manager.
