Research has shown that 9-1-1 professionals report high levels of work-related stress. Further, research in the past five years has shown that 9-1-1 professionals are also at risk for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depression, as well as physical health ailments. This webinar provides definitions of stress and how it can impact your health, and then differentiate stress from PTSD. The importance of knowing the difference in terms of seeking informal and formal assistance will be discussed, as well as tips for dealing with work-related stress. At the end of the webinar, attendees will be able to:
  • Identify work-related factors that increase risk for stress;
  • Recognize the difference between work-related stress and work-related symptoms of PTSD; and
  • Discuss strategies for reducing work-related stress, as well as supported treatments for PTSD.

Presenter: Dr. Michelle Lilly | Northern Illinois University
