Diversity in the Workplace
California has become the first U.S. state to mandate that boards of publicly listed companies include women. Ironically, the policy is only a state mandate, while many countries - including India, Germany, Australia, Norway, Spain, France, Italy, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Israel have similar laws and policies in place. According to a new report from Citigroup and Oxford University, two-thirds of U.S. GDP expansion since 2011 was "directly attributable to migration". The study also acknowledged that immigration cuts could damage economic gains and innovation because although immigrants comprise just 14 percent of the U.S. population, they have created 40 percent of businesses on the Fortune 500.
