NAPFA Region Symposiums Are a Prime Opportunity to Connect

We hope you’re enjoying this exciting season of NAPFA Region Symposiums. These impactful events are a prime opportunity to connect with other local advisors, explore industry trends, and gain insights from various speakers

Hear firsthand from this year’s chairs about their expectations and other event highlights.

South Region

The NAPFA South Region Board hosted its 2024 symposium in Charlotte, N.C. on February 25 and 26. The robust days of learning focused on the broad theme of transitions. From a presidential election year to client life and business transitions, we enjoyed hearing from a variety of speakers.

Region Symposium Chairs: Chris Alman, CFP®, CEPA, is founder and lead advisor of Equip Financial Partners, based in Fairhope, Ala. Jacob Burleson is a financial advisor and CFP® professional with Modera Wealth Management, based in Atlanta, Ga.

Midwest Region

We were excited to host our regional symposium at the University of Chicago, ideally situated within the city and along the river. This year, we built in extra time for networking with a symposium kickoff reception the night before. While engagement and attendance can be a challenge in the Midwest as a less densely populated region, Chicago is an accessible city with much to do, and we were thrilled to attract a good crowd!

Region Symposium Chair: Erica Bouchard is a wealth advisor with Buckingham Wealth Partners and CFP® professional from St. Louis, Mo.

NEMA Region

I look forward to the regional symposium every year. The speakers and sessions are informative, and they cover a variety of content, so it's an easy opportunity to get some CEs in. Beyond that, the conversations that happen in between and after the sessions are what I look forward to the most. The opportunity to share perspectives, discuss challenges, and build connections with other local advisors is something I have always found invaluable.

Region Symposium Chair: Kelsey Brennan, CFP®, is a financial advisor with Perennial Advisors Group and a NAPFA volunteer from Westford, Mass. She also serves on the NEMA Board.

West Region

Each regional symposium is an opportunity to have a brief gathering with your peers without a long trip or big time commitment like other conferences. This year in the West, we’re looking at some of the biggest challenges we see in the financial planning world today: the emergence of AI as a tool, the burgeoning competition for next-generation talent, funding ever more expensive educational costs, and dealing with the passing of clients as the great wealth transfer begins.

Region Symposium Chair: Daniel Yerger is president of MY Wealth Planners, a CFP® professional and Ph.D. candidate in financial planning.
