Best Practices for an Effective Driver Policy
Time: 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM EST

Date: Wednesday, June 21, 2017

The fleet policy is the most important document that drivers must follow.  Effective fleet policies are comprehensive, enforceable, and structured in a manner that is easy for drivers to understand.  Driver compliance is critical to the success of any fleet program.  As a fleet manager, monitoring policy compliance may seem difficult...but, it’s not.  Data will tell you how well drivers are following your rules, identify areas where policies need to be reinforced, and allow you to make business decisions to optimize your fleet performance. This is a must-attend session for any fleet professional to learn how to drive compliance and improve fleet policies through real-life examples.

Objectives:

  • Understand the key components of an effective fleet policy.
  • Define clear expectations for vehicle use.
  • Understand best practices for implementing policies, and track policy compliance.

The Future of Tolling and What it Means for Fleets
Time: 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM EST

Date: Wednesday, July 19, 2017

This presentation will cover future trends in tolling, including interoperability between all tolling systems, the inevitable shift to all-electronic tolling, and the increased use of managed lanes. The presentation will also examine how all of these trends will impact commercial fleets of all types and sizes.

Objectives:

  • Attendees will learn the big picture of what is happening with toll around the country, and what will happen next.
  • Learn about the challenges and opportunities associated with interoperability and all-electronic tolling.
  • Attendees will also learn about new tolling projects and toll-reading technologies, including toll-by-plate, allowing them to make strategic business decisions.

Electrifying your Fleet: How the latest technologies can significantly reduce the infrastructure and operating costs of driving on electricity
Time: 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM EST
Date: Wednesday, August 16, 2017

Learn about the considerations and costs associated with installing charging infrastructure and how new technologies such as energy management can provide significant cost advantages and future-proof your fleet. The webinar will help participants determine whether EVs are right for their fleet and create a plan for driving on electricity.

Objectives:

  • How to determine whether electric vehicles are a good fit for your fleet.
  • Learn the costs associated with adding electric vehicles and charging infrastructure to your fleet.
  • Learn how to reduce costs of charging infrastructure with networked charging.

EMV, Mobile, and the Future of Fuel Pump Payment Technology
Time: 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM EST
Date: Wednesday, September 20, 2017

Payment technology is rapidly evolving along the parallel tracks of convenience and security. Drivers want to pay for fuel in the easiest way possible, while fleet managers need bullet-proof protection for those payments and the data that surrounds them.  This webinar tackles technological progress in payment at the pump and in the maintenance shop.

Objectives:

  • We’ll look at the advantages of EMV "chip" card technology, destined to be the standard for card-based pump payment by 2020.
  • We’ll also explore what mobile fuel payments might look like and when we might expect them to happen.
  • And we’ll look into the crystal ball to discuss what lies beyond.

Case Studies of Green Fleet Activities in Canada
Time: 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM EST
Date: Wednesday, October 18, 2017

Fleet Challenge is a Canadian not-for-profit organization that has been focused on helping Canadian fleet managers reduce their greenhouse gases and eco-footprint for more than a decade.  The name came from the Canadian federal government’s announcement in 2004 of its plans to "green" its federal fleet – and its challenge to private businesses to do the same.

Fleet Challenge manages the E3 Green Fleet program and we are a U.S. SmartWay partner organization. The mission of Fleet Challenge is to reduce carbon and smog-causing emissions from on-road transportation fleets by helping to responsibly facilitate the adaptation of proven green fleet technologies and best management practices. Since 2005, Fleet Challenge has worked with almost 200 fleets to help them assess, plan, develop, and implement green fleet strategies and technologies.

In light of the U.S and Canada’s recent announcements and commitment to fossil fuel and GHG reduction resulting from the Paris climate change talks, Roger Smith’s presentation will include case studies of past examples of "fleet greening" in Canada, including innovative solutions to reducing GHGs and operating costs simultaneously.

Objectives:

  • To provide real case histories about fleets that have successfully implemented green fleet plans around the three core values of corporate social responsibility (people, planet, profit).
  • To accelerate knowledge transfer via real-world experiences of peer fleets.
  • To increase awareness in fleet managers of imminent changes in U.S. environmental policies that could impact their organizations.

The Future of Fleets: A Sharing Economy Perspective
Time: 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM EST
Date: Wednesday, November 15, 2017

There is a growing need for cost-efficient transportation for corporate and government entities. According to statistics from the Federal Highway Administration, government agencies in the United States alone operate approximately 3.7 million vehicles, and it costs some $21 billion yearly to maintain them. Efficient utilization and management of pooled vehicle fleets could take cars off the road and trim costs, helping both corporations and agencies to optimize spending and sustainability.

Adrian Albus will discuss the impact that the sharing economy will have on fleeting management as well as the work that Zipcar is doing.

Objectives:

  • An overview of fleet management across different sectors and to explore inefficiencies in the sector.
  • To find the intersection between fleet management and the sharing economy.
  • To explore innovative solutions in management and the future of the industry.
