Best Practices for an Effective Driver Policy
Time: 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM EST

Date: Wednesday, June 21, 2017

The fleet policy is the most important document that drivers must follow.  Effective fleet policies are comprehensive, enforceable, and structured in a manner that is easy for drivers to understand.  Driver compliance is critical to the success of any fleet program.  As a fleet manager, monitoring policy compliance may seem difficult...but, it’s not.  Data will tell you how well drivers are following your rules, identify areas where policies need to be reinforced, and allow you to make business decisions to optimize your fleet performance. This is a must-attend session for any fleet professional to learn how to drive compliance and improve fleet policies through real-life examples.

Case Studies of Green Fleet Activities in Canada
Time: 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM EST
Date: Wednesday, October 18, 2017

Fleet Challenge is a Canadian not-for-profit organization that has been focused on helping Canadian fleet managers reduce their greenhouse gases and eco-footprint for more than a decade.  The name came from the Canadian federal government’s announcement in 2004 of its plans to "green" its federal fleet – and its challenge to private businesses to do the same.

Fleet Challenge manages the E3 Green Fleet program and we are a U.S. SmartWay partner organization. The mission of Fleet Challenge is to reduce carbon and smog-causing emissions from on-road transportation fleets by helping to responsibly facilitate the adaptation of proven green fleet technologies and best management practices. Since 2005, Fleet Challenge has worked with almost 200 fleets to help them assess, plan, develop, and implement green fleet strategies and technologies.

In light of the U.S and Canada’s recent announcements and commitment to fossil fuel and GHG reduction resulting from the Paris climate change talks, Roger Smith’s presentation will include case studies of past examples of "fleet greening" in Canada, including innovative solutions to reducing GHGs and operating costs simultaneously.

The Future of Fleets: A Sharing Economy Perspective
Time: 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM EST
Date: Wednesday, November 15, 2017

There is a growing need for cost-efficient transportation for corporate and government entities. According to statistics from the Federal Highway Administration, government agencies in the United States alone operate approximately 3.7 million vehicles, and it costs some $21 billion yearly to maintain them. Efficient utilization and management of pooled vehicle fleets could take cars off the road and trim costs, helping both corporations and agencies to optimize spending and sustainability.

Adrian Albus will discuss the impact that the sharing economy will have on fleeting management as well as the work that Zipcar is doing.
