Fleet education is the cornerstone of everything NAFA does, and that carries on to chapter meetings as well. Twenty-one attendees took in a mini-fleet management seminar, arranged by the St. Louis Gateway Chapter, on November 19.

Held at Actavis, Inc. headquarters in St Louis, MO, a full day of fleet information and study took place, covering the topics of Risk Management, Maintenance Management, Fuel Management, Information Technology, and Asset Management. Speakers were Katherine Vigneau, CAFM® (NAFA); Matthew Betz (MOTUS); Cal Kretsinger, CAFM® (Ameren); and Christopher Amos, CAFM® (City of St. Louis) leading an interactive learning summit.  Some attendees flew in for this meeting and drove in from neighboring states.

Attendees included brand new fleet managers and new NAFA members, as well as students from Ranken Technical College (who are currently taking the CAFM® classes taught by Chris Amos). There were also seasoned fleet professionals in attendance who wanted to sharpen their skills and see what was new in the industry.

"This was the first time the St. Louis Chapter has entertained a full day seminar," said Lisa Geringer, CAFM®, Fleet Specialist for Actavis. "(This event) was well attended given that the notice for it was short. The feedback I received during and after the meeting, as well as days later have been extremely positive. Many got a lot out of the meeting."

Scott Boyer, General Services Manager, State of Missouri Department of Transportation said, "It was the first NAFA function I attended and looking forward to attending additional seminars."

Chris Triplett, Equipment Maintenance, Fowler Services Company agreed and said, "Great seminar all around. I am going to try to become more involved. Thank you for such a great event!"

Alea Alexander, Wiese USA, said, "Thank you for organizing the NAFA meeting. I got a lot of great information from the speakers."
