Professional Development Workshop

Did you attend our last Professional Development Session on July 16? Here’s a little information on what you missed.

The session on July 16 was well-attended and discussed one of the industry’s trending topics: design thinking. This workshop was presented by keynote speaker Chris Chambers, CEO at MJM Creative, who discussed the theories and practical applications of design thinking. Chambers also shared his best practices around brainstorming, thinking outside the box and persuasion.

The Radisson Admiral Hotel Toronto-Harbourfront was an amazing host with tons of delicious food. The workshop ended with an inspiring panel with a variety of experiences that shared their interpretation of event design. The networking portion took place at The Wine Shop with an assortment of wines to choose from.

Thank you for our sponsors: Radisson Admiral Hotel Toronto-Harbourfront, Quest Audio Visual, Pinpoint National Photography, D.E. Systems and Peller Estates. Our events won’t happen without the generous support of our sponsors. Please support them when planning your own events.

You won’t want to miss our next Professional Development Session, so mark your calendars!

Save the date – Thursday, Nov. 21

Starts at 3 p.m.
Speaker – Jeremiah Brown

Session: ACHIEVE THE IMPOSSIBLE

Jeremiah Brown’s national best-selling book, The 4 Year Olympian, tracks his odyssey going from his parents’ couch to the Olympic podium in just four years. Redefining the power of enduring uncertainty and trusting others, Brown uses his story to inspire audiences around the world to rethink what is possible for themselves in just four years.

Through each transformation, Brown has come to learn that resilience is the skill that underpins them all, and he now passionately helps organizations and people understand how to strengthen their resilience when adapting to change in their own careers and personal lives.

“He had us from the first sentence. Articulate, engaging, humorous, inspiring and heartfelt delivery. I highly recommend him.”
- Marketing Operations Manager, RBC

“Outstanding! Jeremiah’s story is translatable to any business environment. 100% recommend him!”
- Regional Director, Investors Group Wealth Management

MPI AGM and Volunteer Recognition was held on Thursday, Sept. 26 at the Courtyard by Marriott Toronto Mississauga West. At the Annual General Meeting, we recognized our volunteers and longtime members, besides reviewing the financial statement and other items on the agenda. A big congratulations to all award winners!

You might be aware of the MPI Toronto Ambassador program that has been around for almost three years. We connected with a new member who signed up to be partnered with an ambassador: Caeleigh Harding, corporate tourism coordinator with the Corporation of the City of Brantford. Here is what she has to say about her ambassador buddy experience:

"As a new member of MPI, I utilized the MPI Ambassador program when attending the AGM and Volunteer Recognition event. I definitely think the Ambassador program is something valuable and appreciated by new members. Those who are considering joining MPI should be aware of how welcomed and integrated they will be when attending MPI events. My ambassador was unable to attend at the last minute; however, Vincent Murphy from BizBash made sure I was well taken care of and introduced me to other members. Overall, it was a wonderful, fun-filled event to attend, and the MPI Ambassador program started me off on the right foot to attend future events and build meaningful connections/relationships." - Caeleigh Harding, the Corporation of the City of Brantford

Finally, we would like to acknowledge our sponsors for this event; we could not have done it without your support: Courtyard by Marriott Toronto Mississauga West, Pinpoint National Photography and D.E. Systems, along with Media Partners, Bizbash and Ignite.
