Message from Our President

Hello Chapter Members,

It is hard to believe that the year has passed so quickly and, in just a few days, I’ll be turning over the Presidency to Andrew Barnes and move to my new role as Immediate Past President. It has been an honor and a privilege to lead the board and serve our members during my time in office. I truly appreciate all of our board, Chapter volunteers and members. Your dedication to our Chapter is praiseworthy.

In celebration of our volunteers, the 10th Annual Genie Awards & Education Luncheon will be taking place on June 28. Please see further information below regarding the program, our exciting Keynote Speaker, Tao Group luncheon, the Awards and the Rooftop Champagne Celebration. We will also be swearing in the 2022-2023 Board of Directors at the event.

We are participating in a casual Big East Mixer on Wednesday, June 22, 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. at Bar 888 at the Intercontinental San Francisco. The Past 30...

On a blustery and rainy Saturday, May 14, 2022, nine members of the MPIGNY community participated in the Cycle for Survival, raising money for Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. It was the first time in two years the race was held in it's original format and the first time ever outside. Fortunately a tent shielded riders from the elements, but the rain did not dampen the spirits of the many participants gathered on the plaza at Hudson Yards. The mood was joyful and celebratory, and at times emotional, as we heard from several survivors and families about MSK's cutting edge treatments that are saving lives and giving cancer patients a fighting chance to beat this disease.

Thanks to the generous support of our friends and colleagues like you, the MPI Greater New York team exceeded our fundraising goal of $5,000, raising over $6,500 in the fight against rare cancers! We are grateful to everyone who donated, and we are humbled by your generosity and support of Team MPIGNY's efforts.

Congratulations and thank you to Marisa Wilkes, CMP, Director of CSR for leading our team to exceed our goal.

Industry News

The magical town of Tulum is one of the must-see destinations in the Riviera Maya and Mexico, which stands out for its beautiful white sandy beaches, in addition to providing a sense of peace, tranquility and connection with nature.

On May 11, the inauguration ceremony was held for two properties of the Hilton chain: Conrad Tulum Riviera Maya, which belongs to the luxury segment; and Hilton Tulum Riviera Maya All-Inclusive Resort, which aims to offer the best All-Inclusive experience for national and international tourism.

Carlos Manuel Joaquín González, Governor of Quintana Roo; Marciano Dzul Caamal, Municipal President of Tulum; Chris Nassetta, President and CEO of Hilton; and Santiago Rivera, Managing Director of Conrad Tulum Riviera Maya and Hilton Tulum Riviera Maya All Inclusive Resort, were in charge of the ribbon cutting ceremony.

After the ribbon cutting, one of the surprises organized by Hilton began: a cultural experience within the facilities of Conrad Tulum Riviera Maya.

Conrad Tulum Riviera Maya opens its doors with its luxury proposal.

This property is located in front of a private bay surrounded by a tropical forest, and stands out for its crystalline waters. This resort has 349 rooms, 11 restaurants and an exclusive spa.

Conrad Tulum Riviera Maya was designed to provide guests with a connection to nature. As you enter, you pass through ornate wooden doors engraved by local artisans and enjoy a beautiful view of the bay.

The rooms also incorporate organic elements such as stone, wood and metal with soothing tones and elegant furnishings. Each has a private balcony and relaxation tubs or plunge pools in the first-floor rooms.

One of the strongest points is the gastronomy, as it has an offer for all tastes: a signature experience, created by chef Jersaí Miranda; dishes inspired by the Mediterranean, Japanese and Mexican basin.

Hilton Tulum Riviera Maya is also located in front of a private bay. This resort offers rooms and suites in three-story villa-style buildings. One of the objectives is to redefine the all-inclusive experience with high-end accommodations, gastronomic variety and entertainment activities for all ages.

It has 735 rooms, 13 restaurants, 8 pools and a Family Zone.

Chapter Opportunities

As you may know, London Convention Bureau has graciously sponsored a number of scholarships to cover the cost of a one-year planner membership to MPI. With many of our colleagues still reeling from the effects of the last two years, we want to be sure you know that there are still several scholarships available for qualified planners.

Now, more than ever, your MPI membership can provide the connections and industry relationships you need to move forward toward recovery.

Interested planners can apply here.

We are actively looking for volunteers to join our Education and Marketing & Communications Committee. If you are interested in learning more and joining either commitee, please click on the link or check out our website. Volunteering with a committee is a great way to meet chapter members, build your network and skillsets. All are welcome.

At MPIGNY, our members are family, and in challenging times we believe in taking care of our own. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the financial hardships many are experiencing as a result, MPIGNY has set up a community support fund to provide monetary grants to our colleagues who need it most. If you are in need of assistance during this or any of life's more difficult moments, we may be able to help.
