MPIGNY 30/30
Message from Our President

Hello Chapter Members,

I am so excited to share that we will be hosting our Annual Education & Expo (EdX) event LIVE this year at the Tao Group’s Cathédrale Restaurant at the Moxy Hotel NYC East Village. We have an exciting half-day of education sessions, a luncheon, optional CSR activities and Summer Kick-Off will follow at 5 p.m. at The Ready Rooftop. We’re looking forward to seeing you all in person at this exciting event. If you would like to become an event partner, exhibitor or sponsor, please reach out to me at lauramulholland@livenation.com for details and more information. Our Education and Networking Committees along with the entire board cannot wait to re-boot this annual event.

If you haven’t already, there is still time to share your story for MPI’s 50th year.   We would like a range of stories—short video testimonials, memories, success stories or recollections on how MPI has impacted your life for the better. It's easy to submit a brief video here.

Our chapter runs on the dedication and passion of our volunteer members. We have several opportunities available across all facets of the Chapter. Whether you want to learn a new skill or hone an existing one, whether you have an hour or lots of time on your hands, we want you to be involved with our community. Committee descriptions and more information can be found here.

Please mark your calendars and save the date for these exciting upcoming programs.

MPI Greater New York is raising money for Cycle for Survival, the movement to beat rare cancers.

There is still time to join our team or donate!

Help give people facing rare cancers hope for a better future. Since 2007, the Cycle for Survival community has provided funding to hundreds of doctors and scientists in pursuit of bold ideas. From FDA approval of new drugs to the development of innovative diagnostic tools, Cycle for Survival-funded breakthroughs are transforming the way rare cancers are treated around the world.

One hundred percent of every dollar you give will go directly to groundbreaking research led by Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK). The funds raised are critical to launching initiatives and accelerating progress—benefiting people not just at MSK, but worldwide.

Thanks to the generous support of our friends and colleagues like you, the MPI Greater New York team has exceeded our fundraising goal, but we're not stopping now! With just 10 days to go, there is no time like the present to donate. Together, we will continue to fight until every person with a rare cancer has a way to treat—or beat—their disease.

We are back to business and moving full steam ahead, but do you ever get the feeling you’re just clanking around? Feeling a little “rusty” in your approach? Working, but not quite feeling like it’s business as usual? We have stayed the course during the pandemic, but for some of us, cold calls are colder, and RFPs are falling flat. Perhaps we need a professional tune-up. It's time to get recharged and regenerated into a well-oiled professional machine!

Join us for the second annual MPIGNY Education and Expo—EdX—where planners and suppliers will come together to learn how to fine-tune business tactics and re-establish stronger partnerships. There is something for everyone as we learn about: rebuilding best performance for ourselves and our teams, business development and sales prospecting, and  experiential/engagement planning.

Our professional mechanics for the day will be:

  • Holly Duckworth, CMP, CAE, LSP, CEO Leadership Solutions International
  • Sue Hershkowitz-Coore (aka SpeakerSue), High Impact Presentations
  • Danielle Cirami-Gillis, Vice President Strategic Partnerships, PRA Business Events

Click here to learn more about our speakers.

Don’t miss these three insightful sessions where you’ll learn:

  1. How to strengthen productivity for yourself and your team
  2. How to rebuild sales relationships
  3. The value of planning an experience and not just a meeting.

The Past 30...

On April 7, thanks to the collaboration with our industry partners—HSMAIGNYSite Northeast USAPCMA New York ChapterILEA New York MetroNYSAE, and the Live Events Coalition of NY & NJ—we successfully celebrated Global Meetings Industry Day. Our combined efforts produced a tastefully designed education program, Navigating the Road to Success. This hybrid event was hosted graciously at the Intercontinental New York Times Square and sponsored by Wind Creek Bethlehem

It was an evening of thoughtful insight from our distinguished panelists: Lori Allen, MetLife; Staceyann M. Van Horne-Doria, CMP, Showpad; Wayne M. Robinson, CMP, CMM, FM Global; and moderator Carvie Gillikin, HMCC, McVeigh Global Meetings & Events. The panel shared their challenges during and post pandemic and projections for the future. Plus, there was an added special feature to the program, Tales from the Trenches, with industry frontline workers sharing their experiences during the pandemic, highlighting lessons learned and aspirations for their future. All in all, a great time was had by all: delectable food and drink, engaging education, and great networking! The meetings and hospitality industry showed up and showed out!

Thank you to David Fletcher of New York's Best Musicians for capturing some great candid moments of all the festivities: #GMID2022 NYC - Navigating the Road to Success candid photos

On April 20, a small but mighty group—Devin Fassberg, Mike Veny, Jacqueline Seltzer, and Laura Mulholland—joined other community volunteers at the Hamilton Madison House in the Two Bridges/Chinatown area of the Lower East Side. The group delivered meals and pantry bags of kitchen staples to seniors in the Alfred E. Smith Houses. It was a humbling and rewarding project. The gratitude of the recipients was evident by their smiles when receiving the bags. It was a beautiful day to get out of the office for a few hours to give back via service. This volunteer activity takes place every other Wednesday, and we are planning on volunteering as a group again soon; but if you’d like to get involved in the meantime, more information about the project and organization can be found here:  Hamilton Madison House.

It was a great night at Manhattan’s first whiskey distillery since Prohibition

Such an amazing April After Six Mix at the new Great Jones Distilling Co! Everyone was treated to the full experience with a distillery and barrel room tour, whiskey tasting, and delicious bites.

Thank you to our wonderful venue host and new MPIGNY member Hayley Coriaty for the generosity and hospitality. It was truly an unforgettable evening.

Check out "The Next 30... And Beyond" below for details on the next A6M taking place this summer.

Now, more than ever, your MPI membership can provide the connections and industry relationships you need to move forward toward recovery.
